Resh Sidhu has joined digital creative agency Barbarian as its executive creative director.

She takes over from Leo Leone, who had served in the agency’s top creative role since 2017. It’s unclear what his future plans are.

Prior to joining New York-based Barbarian, Sidhu served as group creative director at AKQA, where she worked with brands such as Nike, Volvo, IBM, L’Oréal and Coca-Cola. Before AKQA, she led Framestore’s virtual reality studio as creative director, where she spearheaded projects for HBO and Nickelodeon.

She’s won a number of industry accolades throughout her career from the likes of Cannes Lions, D&AD and the Clio Awards.

In her new role, she will serve as a member of Barbarian’s leadership team and report to CEO Steven Moy, who joined the agency last year.

“We are thrilled to welcome Resh to the Barbarian team as we look to accelerate our business and deliver groundbreaking work for our clients,” Moy said in a statement. “Her fearless creativity and innovative approach in designing digital experiences is a perfect fit for the future we are building here at Barbarian. I can’t wait to see the incredible value she will bring for our clients and to the world.”

Barbarian is backed by Cheil Worldwide, a global network of agencies based in Seoul, South Korea. The agency has worked with clients including Samsung, Kiehl’s and JBL. In 2016, it created a 360-degree film for Etihad Airways starring Nicole Kidman.

“Barbarian has always had an amazing ability to imagine the future faster and is so well-positioned for the challenges our industry is facing,” Sidhu said in a statement. “This is a moment of great disruption. We have a tremendous opportunity to challenge the status quo and reset the bar for creative excellence. It’s the dawn of a new era. I am thrilled to join Barbarian and look forward to tapping into their vast capabilities and diverse talent to create transformational work for our clients.”
