Publicis’ digital business transformation unit, Publicis.Sapient, turned to global consultancy Deloitte to find its new chief marketing officer.
Teresa Barreira will serve in the role and be tasked with overseeing Publicis.Sapient’s global marketing—including market strategy, client experience, brand and corporate communications—across roughly 100 offices. Barreira will report to Publicis.Sapient EMEA and APAC CEO Nigel Vaz.
“Teresa has a tremendous track record as a senior leader with large technology and consulting firms, building strong market leadership and differentiation as well as leading high performance global teams,” Vaz said in a statement.
Barreira served as chief marketing officer for Deloitte since August of 2016. Before that, she spent nearly 15 years at Accenture, most recently serving as head of marketing.
“I’m excited to join Publicis.Sapient at an important time in its evolution,” Barreira said in a statement. “Publicis.Sapient has an unmatched track record in helping businesses to reinvent themselves for the digital age. As the worlds of marketing, technology and consulting converge, and as clients look to keep pace with changing consumer expectations, partners in these efforts are more important than ever.”
Barreira’s arrival follows the retirement of Publicis.Sapient co-CEO Chip Register at the end of 2017 and subsequent leadership restructuring in which Alan Wexler took over as the Publicis digital shop’s sole chief executive.
