AOL TW Promotes Musicians Online

In the first big cross-marketing move since its formation, AOL Time Warner says it will promote more than a dozen Warner Music Group acts – from Tracy Chapman to Barenaked Ladies – by providing audio track downloads, 30-second excerpts from music videos and chats with the artists.

AOL users can check out the sights and sounds on the online service’s music and entertainment channels. Other Internet surfers can tap into AOL’s music services, and Audio downloads will be programmed to last 30 days.

The promotion also plans to link to artist Web sites, fan sites and labels. Last year, before America Online and Time Warner merged, Warner Music and AOL worked together to promote online Madonna and the band Matchbox Twenty.
