LOS ANGELES – Foote, Cone & Belding isn’t finished yet. With the ‘i’ ‘s still to be dotted on its deal to acquire Borders Perrin & Norrander in the Northwest, the agency is eyeing additional acquisitions.
FCB/West president and coo Jack Balousek said he has held discussions with a number of shops in California over the past six to 12 months, including agencies in Los Angeles where FCB already operates an office.
Balousek declined to name the agencies he has approached, but sources said Eisaman, Johns & Laws, a $70-million shop with offices in L.A. and Chicago, is among them, though EJL’s owners weren’t interested in a sale.
‘There have been discussions in L.A. where we might ultimately address the question of merging with FCB/L.A.,’ Balousek said. ‘But we’ve been pursuing the possibility of acquisition independent of any particular need of one office.’
