There was a time when you could not imagine the name Jerry Garcia in the same sentence with Morgan Stanley, but times have changed.
The artwork of the late Garcia, of Grateful Dead fame, covers the new Private Issue card from Morgan Stanley, Dean Witter, Discover & Co.
As part of the promotional effort, a few of the musician’s old pals are visiting various points around the country to raise money for local food banks. Among them are hippie icon Wavy Gravy and Paul Kantner of Jefferson Starship.
The Private Issue Jerry Garcia Road Trip stops at Minneapolis’ Aquatennial July 18-19, at the Ohio State Fair in Columbus Aug. 1-3, and at Chicago’s Jazz Festival Aug. 28-31.
In promotional materials, Garcia’s Private Issue card is shown as issued in the name of the late DDB Needham creative director Moe Moore as a tribute from her friends at the company and its agency.
