The Los Angeles office of Ignited has found its first chief creative officer in industry veteran Eric Springer.

The independent shop has never had a CCO, instead using executive creative directors to run creative. But as the business grew, the agency decided to introduce the title, explained founder and president Eric Johnson.

"The kinds of clients that we want to go after want someone with significant chops," said Johnson. "We thought bringing in someone like Eric, who has that pedigree and reputation, would make clients more comfortable with bold ideas."

Springer, who joined Dec. 1, was most recently the CCO of FCB West. He has worked with clients such as Volkswagen and Levi's and was integral to Taco Bell's "Live Mas" campaign. Prior to FCB, Springer served as a partner at Pitch in Los Angeles.

Ignited's independence, as well as its ability to act like a production company, attracted Springer to the position.
