Lowe Lintas Wins Virgin Mobile Account

Lowe Lintas & Partners on Monday won the Virgin Mobile USA business after a four-month review, an account that ources said could be worth as much as $90 million.

Virgin Mobile opened its U.S. headquarters in San Francisco last year and will launch later this year. Virgin will be targeting its cell phone service to 18-to-24 year-olds.

The win takes much of the stng out of the $100 million loss of Sun Microsystems, which went to J. Walter Thompson and Tonic 360 last year after a review.

“This is a great win,” said Gary Goldsmith, chairman and chief creative officer of Lowe Lintas & Partners, U.S. “This adds furthr fuel to our confidence that our West coast agency will be a leading force in that market.”

Contenders in the Virgin Mobile pitch were not disclosed.

Lowe will be responsible for creative development, account management, strategic planning, media plannng and buying and production.
