Matt Seiler Tapped as Mediabrands CEO

Mediabrands, the media management arm of Interpublic, has appointed Matt Seiler CEO. He was most recently global CEO of Universal McCann.

Seiler replaces Nick Brien, who early last year was elevated to CEO of McCann Worldgroup.  The post has been vacant, and Mediabrands was being run on an interim basis by a committee that included Seiler, worldwide Initiative CEO Richard Beaven and Mediabrands Ventures CEO Matt Freeman.

Replacing Seiler at UM is Jacki Kelley, who had been North American CEO at the agency since 2009.

In a statement, IPG CEO Michael Roth said, “Matt Seiler’s leadership role with clients, in winning new business and in attracting some of the best talent into our organization made the decision to promote him a logical next step for the business.”

Seiler is credited with helping turnaround UM and put it on a winning track again, succeeding Brien as the global CEO in 2008. Brien, of course, is credited with laying a lot of the groundwork for that turnaround as well.
