More Change at Cliff Freeman

NEW YORK Tom Christmann, the top creative executive at Cliff Freeman and Partners after the shop’s namesake founder, is no longer working full-time at the agency. Christmann (shown), whose title has been ecd, has agreed to stay on as a freelancer.

The move comes a week after agency CEO Clayton Ruebensaal III tendered his resignation.
Christmann and Cliff Freeman could not be reached for comment.
Christmann, a copywriter, joined CFP in December 2007. Previously, he was a cd at Taxi in New York, where he developed campaigns for Amp’d Mobile, Blue Shield of California, Hank Music and Molson Canadian beer. Before Taxi, Christmann was a cd at BBDO — where Ruebensaal was an evp — and worked on FedEx, eBay, Guinness, Red Stripe and AOL. Christmann has also worked at TBWA\Chiat\Day and Kirshenbaum Bond + Partners in New York.
CFP, famous for its Little Caesars commercials a decade ago, is probably now best known for efforts on behalf of Quiznos and Baskin-Robbins. It also works for Barnes & Noble and Valley National Bank.

The New York shop has struggled to generate momentum for some time. It bid farewell to Snapple last October, and the Quiznos and OSI Bonefish Grill businesses left as ’09 began. Sources estimate there are 15-20 people working at CFB, with four mid- to senior-level creatives in the creative department.

On the plus side, it added Saudi Arabian Airlines in late January.

The agency also recently bought back the 20 percent investment of Canadian holding company MDC Partners.
