Now, this is how you fast-forward through commercials.
It's an Adweek tradition—taking the dozens of ads from the Super Bowl and squashing them down into a two-minute speed recap. Our hectic 2012 edition is posted below.
This year's spots had it all—celebrities, dogs, monkeys, babies, supermodels, car tricks, vampires, dream sequences, head-butts, people being shot from cannons, gleeful second heads on the end of creepy tentacles. Half of those crowd-pleasing elements appeared in a single commercial—Kia's circus-like spot from David&Goliath.
Mixed together, the spots reveal just how big advertisers go on the Super Bowl. Which serves as another reminder, actually, that sometimes it's the quieter spots that stand out—like Google's "Parisian Love" from two years ago or the Chrysler spots in the two most recent games.
Special thanks go to Matt McBrayer, who edited this year's video. Also, be sure to check out our mashup of all the 2011 spots.
