Twitter Names Agency Veteran Donna Lamar as New Lead of Creative #Studio

Joining from Vice and succeeding Jayanta Jenkins.

Twitter has appointed a new executive creative director, Donna Lamar, a member of Adweek’s 2018 Creative 100, to lead its in-house Creative #Studio. She replaces former ecd Jayanta Jenkins, who left in January to join HP as its global executive creative director.

The move marks Lamar’s return to Twitter after she previously served as creative director of Creative #Studio from October 2016 to February 2018. She was then hired by Vice as a group creative director to lead its in-house operation alongside David Lennon. At Vice, she oversaw branded content with companies including Mac, Reebok and Marriott.

“Everything happens on Twitter; it’s the place that the world’s conversations and stories unfold in real time,” Lamar said in a statement. “I’m thrilled to return and bring the magic of Twitter to life, both on and off the platform.”

As ecd, Twitter said Lamar will lead “the visual and written expression of the brand” in three areas: product launches, major brand initiatives and campaigns and core web properties. She will also lead and develop design solutions for assigned brand projects in partnership with Twitter’s global consumer and business marketing teams.

Lamar will relocate to San Francisco and report to Brad Ramsey, vice president of global marketing.

“The amazing people and conversations on Twitter present an opportunity for great storytelling, and Donna is just the person to help us,” Ramsey said in a statement. “She is an incredible talent, and we look forward to seeing how she will help shape our brand.”

During her last stint at Twitter, Lamar was credited with helping build Creative #Studio, “crafting the voice” of the company and creating a structure for its in-house brand and product teams.

Before Twitter, Lamar worked at Apple on Beats by Dre, where she produced the 2016 Lincoln MKX campaign starring Matthew McConaughey. She was also a director of creative and development at Amusement Park Entertainment, creative director on the Gatorade account at TBWA\Chiat\Day and head of production at Wieden + Kennedy Amsterdam.

Her work has garnered recognition from The One Show, The Clios and the Andy Awards.
