Netflix's current Qwikster situation is so dumb that I'd think it was staged if there were anything for the company to gain from it. Qwikster is the name of the company's rebranded DVD service, but it's also the Twitter handle of one Jason Castillo, aka some random guy whose updates sound like he's recovering from a Grade III concussion. He also used an image of Elmo smoking pot as his profile picture, although late Monday night he changed it to what looks like a soccer team's emblem. (Sesame Street would approve of that move.) After being largely quiet for months, Castillo is now making noises about selling his account name to "make bank" while everyone else has a chuckle at Netflix's shortsightedness. Assuming they aren't still complaining about the price increases, that is. (He's also offering a play-by-play of life chez Qwikster, including this inscrutable update from last night: "I just got scared I went into the shower turned on the water n then stuff started falling I was lik omg wtf lol.") Maybe Netflix should bag the Qwikster idea and change their name to Blockbuster, because that's what they're becoming.
