A Bloody Birthday Affair

Karen Sommer-Shallet, Editor-in-Chief of DC Magazine, had a big splashy bloody day Thursday. As part of the Bethesda Row Literary Festival, last night she had a book signing for the True Blood Cookbook she co-wrote with Alan Ball and Giana Sobol. Thursday also happened to be her birthday.

Dessert options for her from her own cookbook: Blood red gelato, Seeing Red Bundt cake, Last Rites pecan pie or the Totally Surprised birthday cake.

In addition to Sommer-Shallet, the festival will include author Michael Wilbon for The Greatest American Sportswriting, which he’ll be signing at Equinox,  and “Law & Order: SVU” star Richard Belzer for his government conspiracy book Dead Wrong. Also in the mix will be the Georgetown Cupcake girls to Bravo’s Rosie Pope, who stars in Pregnant in Heels.

Correction: Sommer-Shallet’s birthday and signing were Thursday night. The rest of the signings run through the weekend.
