As The Boston Globe Teeters, is a “Smashing Success”

The NYTimes takes a look at its sister publication in Boston, the Globe, and what would happen if the NY Times Company shut it down, as was hinted at last week. While the newsprint version of the paper may one day be no more, the Website is thriving.

Measured by readership, is a smashing success, with an average of 5.2 million unique visitors a month last year, according to Nielsen Online. The Globe ranks 14th in daily print circulation among American newspapers, but sixth in online audience, an imbalance that reflects how heavily wired its highly educated market is.
