Atlantic Media is going all in on CityLab, its site dedicated to urbanization and city culture. The company is adding editorial and sales staff with the goal of increasing content and partnerships.
Leading this charge is Robert Bole, who has been named CityLab’s general manager. Bole previously served as an advisor to The New York Times and The Atlantic.
“Rob joins us this week with responsibility for expanding the site’s audience, its revenue, and its impact on the world,” wrote Atlantic president Bob Cohn, in a memo to staffers. “As GM, he’ll oversee all aspects of CityLab, including product, technology, sales, marketing, distribution, and content strategy. Look for new investments in most of these areas. Rob will be working closely with Sommer and her team to help the site reach ever-greater heights. His first goal is to double the site’s revenue and audience in 2017.”
