In what is becoming an increasingly repetitive statement, this week’s No. 1 paid iPhone and iPad app is once again OMGPOP’s Draw Something. Yesterday the game pulled the same feat, leading our free iPhone and iPad charts for the second week in a row.
While there were no notable debuts on the iPhone charts this week, Gameloft’s Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation has climbed to the No. 2 spot this week thanks to a sale that has dropped the price of the game to $0.99. Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation was last updated on Mar. 15 to support the new iPad’s retina display. As the title’s AppData page shows, the sale has had a dramatic effect — before going on sale the game was the No. 282 most popular paid iPhone app.
On the iPad, the fastest gaining app is Yuri Selukoff’s Goodreader for iPad, gaining 10 spots to reach No. 22. Like Gameloft’s Modern Combat 3, Goodreader is also optimized for a retina display, which may be helping keep the $4.99 paid app in the charts. The new version of Apple’s iPhoto also continues to do well, holding the No. 2 spot on the iPad charts.
