Just in time for Halloween, Aeria Games’ F.E.A.R. Online has been updated with spooky new content, including a Blood Lust game mode that allows players to transform into monsters with special abilities. In addition, special Halloween-themed items have been added to the game, and players will face off against special enemies during this event.
During the game’s Halloween event, players have access to exclusive Halloween items, like the Sickle, M40A3 Bloody, KAC PDW Bloody and HK G36C Bloody weapons. Zombie nurse characters have been added to the game, along with Pumpkin Capsules. These capsules require 10 Pumpkin Dolls each to open, and can reward players with these Halloween items, including a Pumpkin Head. These Halloween items are also available in the game’s store, with the exclusion of the Pumpkin Head, which is the only item that isn’t also available via direct purchase.
These Pumpkin Dolls are available to earn through the game’s player-vs-player and cooperative gameplay modes. They are also available to purchase outright.
In addition, the game’s Blood Lust mode has been unlocked as a Team Deathmatch type of map, wherein players can transform into a Berserker or a Hunter. During this mode, one player on each team is randomly selected to transform into one of these beasts. Players remain in this form until their transformation gauge empties. After, the player is automatically killed, and a new player is chosen to be a monster. This ensures multiple players have the chance to be the monster during each match.
“Halloween is the perfect time of the year to bring more F.E.A.R. to our fans,” said Pascal Zuta, CEO of Aeria Games, in a statement. “The new features take the game to another level of revulsion and ghastly gameplay, delivering what our fans expect and have been asking for in the game.”
F.E.A.R. Online was released on Steam earlier this month, and runs in parallel with the events of F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin. The game sees players surviving against hideous monsters in a story surrounding the scientific experiments of the Armacham Technology Corporation. The game is available to download for free on Steam. The game’s complete Halloween patch notes are available on the Aeria Games forums.
