Facebook commerce is fantastic in theory, but without a diverse selection of goods and services to offer, customers won’t practice it.
Recognizing that, social shopping platform sneakpeeq announced the addition of more than 300 brands since launching in May this year.
This vendor, which insists its name doesn’t take an initial capital letter, promises an element of intrigue for Facebook shopping.
When users click the peeq button to discover the price of an item, the price drops, as it does every time someone clicks the button. However, once a customer purchases the item, all discounting stops.
Shoppers can also see what other members have clicked peeq on and bought, as well as share advice on goods being offered.
The platform is currently available only via Facebook Connect. Applicationss for the Apple iPhone and iPad, plus the Android, are being developed.
The brands that were added to the platform include:
- Apparel: Mark + James by Badgley Mischka and BB Dakota;
- Jewelry and accessories: Nicole Miller and Trina Turk;
- Gourmet treats: 479 Popcorn and Kusmi Tea; plus
- Housewares and décor: Chalkboard China and Jessie Steele.
Since our launch three months ago, sneakpeeq has already begun to make waves in the social commerce industry, giving both large and boutique brands a platform to reach new audiences and create real sales on Facebook. We’re at a point where we’re hearing from sneakpeeq fans who want to tell us how much they love the app and what they want to see next, and from brands and designers who want to feature new and exclusive boutiques on sneakpeeq to gain a larger following.
An advisor to sneakpeeq, IMG Fashion Worldwide Senior Vice President and Managing Director Peter Levy added:
As consumers increasingly discover and share new fashion finds online through friends and social connections, it’s become critical for fashion brands to embrace social commerce. sneakpeeq provides a unique and creative platform for brands to get their products in front of new audiences and create excitement around them. The social shopping app actually creates meaningful sales for brands on Facebook, drives word of mouth, and brings them new customers.
