A Facebook spokeswoman confirmed the removal of the apps to CNET, noting that they had not been updated recently and saying:
The social network told CNET the shutdown of Facebook Creative Labs and the demise of Slingshot, Rooms (which will be shut down Dec. 23) and Riff did not mean the end for new, stand-alone apps, pointing to better performing examples such as Paper and Instagram apps Hyperlapse and Layout.
Facebook Mentions—the app for celebrities, public figures and journalists that the social network launched in July 2014–is still going strong, as well, with the addition this past August of live video-streaming feature Live for Facebook Mentions.
Apps launched by the Facebook Creative Labs initiative included:
- Paper, February 2014
- Slingshot, June 2014
- Facebook Mentions, July 2014
- Rooms, October 2014
- Groups, November 2014
- Stickered for Messenger, December 2014
- Riff, April 2015
- Hello, April 2015
- Moments, June 2015
