Facebook Phone Speculation Surfaces Again Following Meeting with Samsung in Seoul

After India and Indonesia, the next stop for Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg was South Korea, where a meeting at Samsung Electronics’ headquarters in Seoul spurred speculation that the two companies are collaborating on -- you guessed it -- a Facebook phone.

SamsungLogo650After India and Indonesia, the next stop for Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg was South Korea, where a meeting at Samsung Electronics’ headquarters in Seoul spurred speculation that the two companies are collaborating on — you guessed it — a Facebook phone.

The Korea Herald reported that Zuckerberg met with Samsung vice chairman Lee Jay-yong at the electronics giant’s headquarters, followed by a dinner meeting that also included Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg, Samsung mobile head Shin Jong-kyun and other executives from both companies.

Zuckerberg and Jay-yong also met at the Allen & Co. conference in Idaho in July, according to The Korea Herald.

The Korea Times, however, had a different take on the meeting, saying that Facebook and Samsung agreed to jointly develop mobile content, and adding that a Facebook-exclusive phone was unlikely.
