SoCal Trucking Magazine Wins Prestigious Neal Award

In the July 2011 issue of Heavy Duty Trucking, editor-in-chief Deborah Lockridge wrote about the increase in thievery of 18-wheeler and long-haul trailer items under the headline “Nine Ways to Keep Cargo Safe & Secure.” Her number one preventative tip, screen employees, would no doubt have helped the LA firm that saw a falsely ID-ed trucker ride away last spring with $400,000 in king crabs.

On Friday, the article was named “Best Instructional Content” at the 58th Annual Jesse H. Neal National Business Journalism Awards ceremony in New York City. The citation is, impressively, the eighth Neal award won by Lockridge for her contributions to the Irvine publication. From the HDT announcement:

Heavy Duty Trucking was the only trucking fleet magazine to win a Neal Award this year… The prize is often hailed as the “Pulitzer Prize of the business media.”

Congrats to Lockridge, who beat out HDT equipment editor Jim Park, nominated in the same category for the April 2011 feature “The Devil You Know or the Devil You Don’t.”
