The Huffington Post has partnered with South Africa media company Media24 to launch HuffPost South Africa.
The site—expected to launch in November—will be the 17th international edition of the HuffPost and its first sub-saharan African site.
HuffPost CEO Jared Grusd (who happens to be South African), said the expansion to South Africa was a logical next step.
“South Africa is an extremely exciting market for the company as Internet users there are expected to grow to 35.4 million by 2018, digital video is expected to grow by more than 29 percent, and overall mobile phone users to 41.5 million,” said Grusd.
The HuffPost launched its first international edition in 2011. The company now has more than 300 editors spread across the globe.
