Instagram recently updated its Explore section, splitting content into different topic channels across the top of the screen. For instance, your Explore tab may have topics like “Animals” and “Food.” If you see a topic you’re not interested in, our guide will show you how to hide it.
Note: These screenshots were captured in the Instagram application on iOS.
Step 1: At the top of the Explore tab, tap and hold on the topic channel you wish to hide. Note: You can swipe left and right on the topics to see all of the topic channels available to you.
Step 2: Tap “Mute [Topic]” at the bottom of the screen.
If you ever want to see the topics you’ve muted, swipe to the far right end of your topics list. Any topics you’ve muted will have grayed out images.
If you want to unmute a topic you’ve previously hidden, tap and hold on the topic, and then tap “Unmute [Topic]” at the bottom of the screen. Note: You can also tap the topic to view its content without unmuting it.
Finally, you can also unmute a topic by tapping on the topic and then tapping “Unmute” near the top of the screen.
