Lumines: Puzzle & Music Launches on iOS, Android

Players arrange shapes on the board so that squares of the same color touch and form larger blocks that will be removed by the "timeline sweep" line.

Japanese game development studio mobcast announced the worldwide release of Lumines: Puzzle & Music on iOS and Android. The puzzle game challenges players to arrange shapes on the board so that squares of the same color touch and form larger blocks that will be removed by the “timeline sweep” line that scrolls over the board.

In each game, players are challenged to complete levels by “purifying” the avatar in each level. Users can purify avatars by clearing blocks from the screen. Depending on the gameplay mode, games end when players complete every stage in the game, or when they allow the blocks to reach the top of the board.

Lumines: Puzzle & Music includes two sets of stages (Lumines: Puzzle & Music and Lumines: Classic), and users can play games on multiple difficulty levels. Each basic game contains a set number of stages to complete. Endless games are also available.

Elsewhere, players can unlock a variety of skins, or gameplay themes, over time, and they have the option to play “single skin” games.

Finally, users can unlock new avatars as they play, and some avatars have special abilities users can activate during games. For instance, the dolphin avatar allows users to stop the timeline sweep line from moving across the board for a short time.

Lumines: Puzzle & Music is available to download for $2.99 on the iTunes App Store and Google Play.
