What’s been the marketing story of 2014?
Content marketing? Perhaps. It’s certainly consumed a lot of digital column inches. But, now that we find ourselves in the tail end of the year, we’re itching for something new. So, here’s the big question: what’s coming next?
A better use of marketing data and analytics? CMOs spent 8 percent of marketing budgets on analytics this year, and expect to steadily raise that figure over the next three years. An increase in overall marketing noise also looks inevitable, and a better adoption of video is highly likely.
Marketing software acquisitions from major players such as Facebook and Twitter are anticipated, with both look to focus on micro-targeting, hyper-segmentation and (of course) mobile.
Finally, expect a general increase in online ad expenditure, with the mobile ad space alone forecast to grow by 48 percent next year.
