Monthly Jobs Report Shows Strong Numbers

jobsHappy Friday one and all! For those of us watching the monthly jobs report, it’s a happy Friday indeed.

The Department of Labor showed an addition of 321,000 jobs last month.

This is the biggest increase in almost three years! And it looks like 2014 is winding down on a high note — November signifies the 10th consecutive month of job gains above 200,000. This means 2014 has been the best hiring year since 1999.

Rick Rieder, chief investment officer of fundamental fixed income at BlackRock, told reporters via a note, including The Associated Press:

“The bottom line is this was yet another very solid employment report and another strong data point reaffirming the strength of U.S. growth versus a sluggish global (economy).”

We should point out the unemployment rate, too which is currently 5.8 percent. Over the entire year, as pointed out by the Department of Labor, the unemployment rate and number of unemployed people decreased by 1.2 percentage points.
