The New York Times has finally figured out that some men enjoy spending too much money on clothes, just like some women do. In an attempt to address that male audience, the Times is launching a new Men’s Style print section.
Men’s Style — the first new Times print section since Thursday Styles debuted in 2005 — will run on the first Friday of each month, starting April 3. It will be 12 to 14 pages long and overseen by Styles editor Stuart Emmrich.
Men’s Style is a fairly smart — and safe — move by the Times. A section featuring fancy clothes will bring fancy companies that want to advertise their fancy stuff. It will also please men who enjoy reading about $300 socks. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. We certainly appreciate a good sock.
