Oahu Pressmen Laid Off At Honolulu Star-Bulletin; Second Round Of Cuts For Paper In As Many Months

More bad news: Oahu Publications, the parent company of the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and Midweek, has laid off 23 in its printing and distribution operations, or 7 percent of the company’s workforce.
These cuts are the second round for the company in as many months; in February, 17 employees were cut from the Star-Bulletin newsroom.
These cuts are in response to the Star-Bulletin ceasing publication of an afternoon edition.
We really, really hate to hear of media people losing their jobs. It sucks. But how was this company sustaining a morning and afternoon paper all this time? Seriously?
