Obamas Get A Second-Hand Dog, Still Piss People Off

The new puppy in the white house is a purebred Portuguese water dog named Bo, and while he was given to the Obamas after his first home didn’t work out, he’s still the product of a breeder. All of this is wonderful, of course. Suddenly the issue of dog overpopulation and disreputable breeders is in the headlines. They may be angry now, but Obama has given a gift to animal welfare advocates- a spotlight on the issues they care about.
