Hi, everybody-

I’m pleased to announce that Jim Oliphant will be joining us as a deputy magazine editor starting Feb. 13. Jim, who comes highly recommended by our own Jim Tankersley, is a political correspondent with the Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune and previously served as editor in chief of Legal Times. Jim has also written for the Sante Fe Reporter and The Daily Business Review in Miami.

During his career, Jim has covered the 2008, 2010 and 2012 elections, health care reform, Supreme Court nominations, financial services reform, the stimulus package, anti-terrorism policy, Guantanamo Bay, wiretapping, and the Justice Department. He’s also overseen a website redesign and blog development.

Jim received his bachelor’s degree and his law degree from The Ohio State University. He practiced law in Cleveland before seeing the light and moving into journalism.

Jim will be sitting in the office next to Adam and working with Adam, Ron, and Charlie on every aspect of the magazine. We’ll figure out which pods he’ll be dealing with after he settles in.

Please join me in welcoming Jim. You can follow him on Twitter at @jamesoliphant.
