The year is barely two days old and we’ve already lost a great one — Mario Cuomo, the former three-term governor of New York, died Thursday. With such an iconic figure passing, several newspapers honored Cuomo with their front pages today.
Cuomo’s death occurred mere hours after his son, Andrew Cuomo, was sworn into office for his second term. Mario Cuomo was 82 years old.
When The New York Times asked Cuomo how he’d like to be described in his eventual obituary, Cuomo replied, “People asked me what I want as an epitaph. He tried.”
