Time Inc.’s PeopleTV announced that it will begin livestreaming programming on Twitter Nov. 20.
The ad-supported over-the-top network’s pact with the social network will kick off with live daily show People Now, and livestreaming fare will “eventually” include breaking news, celebrity interviews and live events and specials.
The livestreams will be available globally via @PeopleTV, accompanied by Twitter timelines containing real-time conversation, and Time Inc. said advertisers will have opportunities to sponsor or promote across both PeopleTV and Twitter.
Twitter chief operating officer Anthony Noto said in a release detailing the livestreaming pact, “Entertainment is one of the most-talked-about topics on our platform as pop-culture fans turn to Twitter every day to see what’s happening. We are very excited for PeopleTV to bring its editorial reputation and robust programming to Twitter alongside the real-time conversation from our audience.”
Time Inc. CEO Rich Battista added, “We are excited to expand PeopleTV’s premium live content and global footprint through this collaboration with Twitter by combining our vast resources, access and authority in entertainment and pop culture with Twitter’s unique live, social streaming video platform. We are thrilled to bring the next-generation entertainment network, in real-time, to Twitter’s highly engaged audience.”
And Time Inc. senior vice president of sales Andrew Snyder said, “With PeopleTV’s expanded distribution and live programming extensions on Twitter, we are well-positioned to help our customers engage high-value target audiences with greater contextual relevance and larger reach than ever before.”
