ShopIgniter is announcing an upgraded commerce platform the day after we’ve learned of the demise of competitor Adgregate Markets.
The social commerce software provider introduced its in-stream technology in October, enabling merchants to promote products and services, offer deals, complete secure transactions, and manage inventory all within the news feed on Facebook.
Now, ShopIgniter hopes to put a stop to the trend of big-name retailers abandoning their Facebook storefronts, introducing new features including:

  • Payment Card Industry Level 1 certification, suitable for merchants that process high volumes of credit-card transactions.
  • A Give with Friends Facebook application makes it easy for multiple users on the social network to contribute toward a single, collective gift by using Facebook’s friend lists and messaging, and processing the multiple contributions as a single transaction.
  • Clients can create customized programs for events including new product launches, group gifting, special offers for valuable customers, flash sales, private sales, and seasonal and holiday offerings.

ShopIgniter’s clients include Levi’s, Target, Nike Golf, Kaenon, Steven Alan, Omaha Steaks, and CafePress. And like Chief Executive Officer Matt Compton said:

Customers expect, and brands demand, the same level of security and confidence when buying through social channels as they do on their eCommerce stores. By adding PCI Level 1 certification to our social commerce platform, we’re proud to offer brands and retailers the most complete social commerce offering on the market, with peace of mind that their transactions and data are completely secure.

Chief Marketing Officer Kevin Tate added:

Group gifting is a good example of an inherently social buying experience. We have learned a lot from our customers about what works best in social commerce, one of them being: Customers in a social environment expect and respond to engaging, authentic, and effective experiences, such as the ability to simplify the gift-giving experience.
