The Simpsons: Tapped Out Updated for Christmas 2014

The Simpsons ChristmasThe Christmas holiday event has launched in The Simpsons: Tapped Out on mobile devices, giving players a chance to celebrate the season by collecting presents and building toys in Santa’s workshop. Springfield is covered in a blanket of snow, trees have lost their leaves, and lights adorn certain objects. This event is similar to that of this year’s Halloween celebration, as players will collect presents in bulk to unlock prizes, while also completing quests (for additional rewards) as part of a new storyline.

The Christmas event in The Simpsons: Tapped Out begins as Santa relocates his workshop to Springfield due to global warming. Characters in the Simpson family (and other key characters from the series) can complete jobs inside the workshop (or other winter-related tasks) to earn presents, which must be collected in bulk to unlock rewards. The first reward, for instance, is a Christmas parade float, which is unlocked at 580 presents. The Simpsons ChristmasIn addition to earning presents from these jobs, players can visit their friends’ towns and tend buildings to collect free presents as well. This first “part” of the event, which deals with Santa’s workshop and collecting presents, will end in 20 days, on December 24.

Part two of the event will focus on collecting partying elves. Players will tap on elves to capture them in bottles, and they’ll “deport” them from town using a cannon. Just like presents, the more elves players collect, the more winter-themed prizes players will unlock.

A separate, but related feature deals with completing daily tasks in the Elves’ tunnels under Springfield. These daily quests contain multiple tasks to complete (each), and reward players with additional themed items if they’re completed in time.

Finally, the game’s store has been updated with some new and returning themed items. Players can purchase Santa’s Village (which includes Homer’s Santa costume), an Egg Nog Bar, another version of Santa’s Workshop, and even Christmas facades for certain buildings. These items (and more) cost Donuts (real money), while two other items, festive lawn decorations, are available for cash.

The Simpsons: Tapped Out is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store, Google Play and the Amazon Appstore.
