TumblrYahoo Finally Reveals How Much Money Tumblr Can Bring In Ads (Adweek)
We finally have a look at Tumblr’s ad sales: $100 million in 2015, according to Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer, under pressure to show some results from her $1 billion acquisition. Mayer gave some new insights into her strategy Tuesday after announcing third-quarter results, and she gave a defense of her leadership at the company over the past two years. The Wall Street Journal Mayer also said Tumblr will achieve “positive Ebitda” — a measure of profitability that strips out taxes, depreciation and other measures. She made the remarks during Yahoo’s conference call on third-quarter earnings. The New York Times Mayer said mobile revenue exceeded $200 million in the quarter and she expected it to top $1.2 billion for the full year. Yahoo and its Tumblr unit had 550 million monthly users on mobile devices during the quarter, up 17 percent from a year ago. Over all, the company’s services have more than one billion monthly users.
