Around two in five social network users in the United States use Twitter, compared to nine in ten who use Facebook, reveals a new study.
A December 2014 survey by Frank N. Magid Associates of U.S. social networkers found that 39 percent now use Twitter, down from 41 percent a year ago.
Facebook use has also dropped slightly, falling from 93 percent to 90 percent.
Meanwhile, Instagram penetration has more than doubled from 15 percent in 2012 to 32 percent this year.
Snapchat use has also doubled year-on-year.
Google+, Pinterest and LinkedIn have also increased, meaning only Facebook and Twitter saw declines amongst the major platforms.
