Sourcebooks Launches The Shakespearience

For Shakespeare lovers that are looking for modern day depictions of his work, look no further than Sourcebooks’ new The Shakesperience interactive book series.

The interactive eBooks, which were created using iBooks Author, bring Shakespeare’s plays to live with legendary performances that  are embedded alongside the text.  Tracks from actors including: Kenneth Branagh, Orson Welles, and Sir Laurence Olivier are among them. The eBook also includes embedded translations of terms into modern day words. It has also got a slew of photos, production notes, set renderings and costume designs from famous stagings of the work.

“We’ve taken what has traditionally been a difficult and generic experience and provided the opportunity for more engaged and lively learning,” explained Dominique Raccah, CEO/publisher of Sourcebooks in a statement. “Enthusiasts will love it, but what we’re most excited about is the impact it will have on educators and students.”

Shakespearience launches today in the iBookstore  with three plays: Othello,Hamlet, and Romeo and Juliet.
