Square Enix launches Deadman’s Cross on iOS, Google Play

The team behind Square Enix’s Guardian Cross has released Deadman’s Cross on iOS and Android devices. The zombie-themed card battle game sees players building their own army of undead units and completing quests, while social features allow gamers to team up with players all around the world to tackle larger missions.

In Deadman’s Cross, players are taken to a future version of the US, after the outbreak of a virus left the country populated by the undead. The game’s hero must fight for survival, taking jobs from other survivors and collecting resources as they tame undead creatures for use in their own army.

The game plays as both a traditional card game and a 3D first-person shooter (FPS). Players can add new zombies to their army via hunts. These FPS sequences see players shooting zombies through the scope of a rifle, adding them to their collection. Over 100 cards are available so far, featuring “regular” citizens and animals, as well as some famous historical figures. Square Enix plans to add additional cards in the future.

Outside of hunts, players can complete jobs, tapping on arrows to move around their environment. Card battles are triggered when enemies are encountered. Players can have up to 10 units in their deck at once, and can fast-forward to the results screen to see the results.

Deadman’s Cross is free-to-play, but is supported via microtransactions. For instance, players can purchase additional energy to complete more jobs in a single session.

Deadman’s Cross is now available to download for free on iOS and Google Play. Check back soon to follow the game on AppData, our tracking platform for mobile and social apps and developers.
