PayPal vice president of growth Stan Chudnovsky will join Facebook in February as product manager of its Messenger applications, reporting to a familiar face: VP of messaging products David Marcus, who left his post as president of PayPal in June to join the social network.
Re/code broke the news of Chudnovsky’s hiring, saying that while he and Marcus overlapped at PayPal for about one year, Chudnovsky was not focused on the payments side of the business, and adding that he was recruited not by Marcus, but by co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg and VP of growth and analytics Javier Olivan.
According to Chudnovsky’s PayPal biography, he joined the company in 2013 and focused on growing the online payment service’s network of consumers, merchants and developer.
Prior to PayPal, he was the co-founder of software-as-a-service company IronPearl, which was acquired by PayPal in April 2013. He also co-founded game developers Ooga Labs and Wonderhill, and worked with Monster and Tickle, which was acquired by Monster in 2004.
