The Knicks’ fall to No. 3 and the Pelicans’ rise to No. 1 captivated Twitter

Twitter said the National Basketball Association’s draft lottery Tuesday night spurred over 1 million tweets, or more than four times last year’s total.

The most-mentioned teams Tuesday night were:

  1. New York Knicks (ended up with the third pick despite being a favorite to land the top choice)
  2. New Orleans Pelicans (won the No. 1 pick and, most likely, the rights to Zion Williamson)
  3. Los Angeles Lakers (moved up to pick No. 4 after being projected to land the 11th pick)

The most mentioned players were:

  1. Williamson
  2. Anthony Davis
  3. Ja Morant
  4. R.J. Barrett
  5. LeBron James

The top-tweeted moments were:

  1. Pelicans get the top pick
  2. Knicks get the No. 3 pick
  3. Lakers move into the top four with the Knicks, Memphis Grizzlies and Pelicans
