Time Inc.’s Lang Makes First Hire

New communications exec comes from News Corp.

Time Inc.’s Laura Lang has made her first executive hire since becoming CEO in November, filling the job of chief spokesperson. Teri Everett is joining the company as executive vp of corporate communications. She’ll start March 5 and report to Lang.

Everett spent the past 11 years in corporate communications at Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. Everett is the second top spokesperson to join the Time Warner fold. Gary Ginsberg, also a News Corp. vet, is head spokesman for Time Warner.

Everett’s duties will include corporate affairs, which suggests that Lang wants the person in that role to have a broader role than it has in the past. Dawn Bridges, the last person to hold this position for a long period of time, had the title of senior vp of corporate communications.

“One of our priorities is to create a transparent, open dialogue about Time Inc.’s goals and strategies both within the company and to our external constituents,” Lang said in an announcement. “Teri’s honest and direct approach and strong track record make her the ideal executive to lead our communications efforts.”
