Tony Bennett Lends His Q Factor to Staten Island

Many, many moons after performing at the opening of the RFK Triborough Bridge, Tony Bennett is gracing another local launch. The 88-year-old legend looks sharp, as usual, on the cover of Q magazine, a brand new quarterly events and entertainment guide unveiled this week by newspaper the Staten Island Advance.

From editor Brian J. Laline’s introductory note:

We’re here to tell you that there’s a lot happening on Staten Island. You don’t always have to go to “the city” or elsewhere to find fun things to do. The Q print publication will capsulize entertaining Staten Island happenings for you four times a year — fall, winter, spring and summer…

The first edition of Q is out now, and can be picked up [free] at more than 130 locations around Staten Island. Stories published in Q will also be available online at

Bennett will perform November 29 at Staten Island’s Grand Theatre as part of his current tour. And when you’ve been around as long as Mr. B, chances are you’ve had dealings with more than one Q magazine. Sure enough, back in 2002, the British version of this namesake music put him at the top of a list of  “50 Bands You Must See Before You Die.”
