Twitter acqui-hired the team behind Lightwell, a startup provider of mobile design tools for building interactive, narrative applications.
Twitter vice president of product Keith Coleman also tweeted about the deal, revealing that Lightwell founder and CEO Suzanne Xie will become a director of product at the social network and lead its conversations initiative.
A spokesperson for Twitter confirmed the agreement in a statement: ““We are excited to welcome Suzanne and her team to Twitter to help drive forward the important work we are doing to serve the public conversation.”
Twitter director of product management Sara Haider, who had been leading the Conversations initiative and its release of prototype app twttr, welcomed Xie in a tweet, adding that she will be “moving on to a different adventure at Twitter” at the end of September, after some time off.
As for Lightwell, the company said in its series of tweets that it will no longer actively support its tool or add new features, but the tool is now free-of-charge to download and use, with no logins or account creation required, and apps built with the tool will be unaffected by the move.
