Twitter Rumored To Be Considering Possibly Adding A Woman To Its Board. Maybe.

File this one under news that shouldn’t be: There’s a rumor circulating that Twitter is considering adding a (gasp!) woman to its board of directors.

And you know what THAT means. Next thing you know, there will be . . . two.

But wait, let’s slow this crazy train down a bit and see what all the fuss is about.

All Things D is reporting that “Twitter has placed top priority on adding a woman to the current all-male roster,” . . . [and] “a number of female candidates have already been interviewed, but none have been selected.”

Currently, Twitter’s board includes CEO Dick Costolo, company founders Jack Dorsey and Evan Williams, and investors such as Peter Fenton of Benchmark Capital and Peter Currie of Currie Capital. Former DoubleClick CEO David Rosenblatt also holds a seat.

But they don’t have any ladies on there – and they should. Google has em – and so does Apple, Microsoft, Amazon and LinkedIn. How very glass ceiling of the microblogging platform to wait this late to make such a move!

Though, again, this is just a rumor, not confirmed by Twitter. So they may very well be even FURTHER behind the times than we think!

What do you think of this? And wouldn’t it be something if they blew straight past everyone’s expectations and hired two women to the board?
