Unpaid Bloggers Get Elite Status at CPAC Party

Bloggers set to cover CPAC this week likely got an invite in early February to attend “Blog Bash,” an annual party hosted “by bloggers for bloggers.” But if you didn’t RSVP at breakneck speed and you “do this for a living” there’s a good chance you won’t be attending. Priority was given to “selfless, unpaid blogger activists.” Damn, that’s cold.

The party is to be hosted Thursday, Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m at Microsoft’s Innovation and Policy Center on K street. Perks for attendees include “goodie bags full of great items, prizes and giveaways, free food and drink, and many hugely popular guests, including Presidential candidates,” says the invite.

The invitation made it to my inbox on Feb. 1 at 10:42 a.m. I registered as a writer for The Blaze the same day at 11:49 a.m and still received a rejection. The same happened to FBDC’s Betsy. We’re both incredibly disappointed.

But if you’re among the elite, unpaid bloggers attending, we want to hear about your experience; in particular, what’s in those delicious goodie bags. Get in touch with us beforehand so we know you’re going by sending an email to Fishbowldc@mediabistro.com.

And if you’re thinking of crashing the party, be careful. The rejection letter reads, “because of the limited capacity, we have retained a private security firm to ensure that only ticketed guests are admitted.”
