W Magazine launches New iPad App

The fashion rag W Magazine has just launched a stand-alone iPad app called The Daily W.

The Daily W is a free magazine app, and unlike most apps it’s not a digital edition of W Magazine. Instead, it’s going to be run as a separate entity. The app will be a mix of exclusive celebrity content with the functionality of a shopping app, with the content falling into 5 general categories: Fashion, Celebrity, Beauty, Accessories, and Design + Travel. Readers will be able to view exclusive behind the scenes photos and videos as well as shop the day’s hottest trends.

This marks Condé Nast’s 11th magazine on the iPad (not counting foreign editions of magazines). I wonder how well they’re doing? Thus far, Condé Nast and other publishers who have embraced the digital magazine have not provided details on how much cash they’re making from their iPad apps.
