WaPo’s Cohen Follows Bennett to Duke U

Last week, WaPo’s Phillip Bennett announced he’d be moving on to Duke U. Today, Sarah Cohen has also announced that she will be hitting up higher education at Duke. Memo obtained by FBDC below:

A New Adventure for Sarah Cohen
It is with very mixed feelings that we announce that database editor Sarah Cohen has accepted an appointment as Knight Professor of the Practice of Communications and Journalism at Duke University, starting this summer.
In that post, Sarah will not only teach, but work to develop new tools to help investigative journalists manage and analyze the data they amass in their reporting.
We’re happy that Sarah has this opportunity, and expect her work will help advance investigative and accountability reporting. We’re pleased to say that her affiliation with The Post will continue, and we expect you’ll see her back in the newsroom from time to time in the future, working on projects with us.
But we’re sad to lose her as a fulltime colleague. In the decade she’s been at The Post, Sarah has helped produce important, high-impact journalism on topics ranging from child welfare to campaign finance, lead in the city’s water, wasteful farm subsidies and abusive practices by local landlords eager to cash in on the real estate boom. In the course of this work she shared a Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting in 2002, a Selden Ring Award for Investigative Journalism in 2005 and a Goldsmith Prize for Investigative Reporting this spring.
She’s been a teacher and a resource to many in the newsroom. We’ll miss her in the daily round, but look forward to continued collaboration in the future. In the meantime, please join us in wishing her well in her new endeavors.
