What is Twitter Amplify?

CEO Dick Costolo launched Twitter Amplify back in May 2013, partnering with such luminaries as BBC America, FOX, The Weather Channel, Bloomberg TV, Discovery, MLB, Variety and Warner Music Group.

That all sounds great. But you might have a question: what is Twitter Amplify?

“Twitter Amplify enables media companies and brands to capture the excitement on TV and distribute it to fans and audiences across Twitter, beyond their followers,” writes Twitter. “Audiences can immediately relive that moment or experience it for the first time on their mobile phones while they engage in Twitter conversations.”

Amplify works in three stages:

1. Exciting content is broadcast on TV or other media channels

2. Real-time videos or other visual content (i.e., Vines) are prepared specifically for Twitter

3. This content is sponsored and delivered to targeted audiences

Still confused? Twitter has prepared this video to better explain Amplify, which gives you the guided tour in just 90 seconds.
