WhatsApp is now testing verified business accounts, which can be identified by their green check marks.

The Facebook-owned messaging application said in a frequently asked questions post that the test “is currently limited to a small number of businesses participating in a pilot program.”

According to WhatsApp, the green check mark indicates that the phone number of the contact belongs to a business account, and users who begin chatting with businesses will be able to tell by yellow messages inside their chats.

Users who already have a business’ phone number saved in their address books will see the names those numbers are saved under, while the names chosen by the businesses will be displayed for users who don’t have their numbers saved.

Businesses can also be blocked if users no longer desire to communicate with them via WhatsApp.

This test may pave the way for Facebook to extend the business features it has introduced for Facebook Messenger to its fellow messaging app.
