Cut the Rope developer ZeptoLab has announced the launch of My Om Nom on iOS devices. Developed in partnership with Dynamic Pixels, the game allows players to care for their very own Om Nom, the friendly green monster from the Cut the Rope franchise. This game also introduces fans to the first-ever female version of Om Nom, named Om Nelle.
In My Om Nom, players manage the needs of their very own Om Nom or Om Nelle (they choose), making sure he or she always has enough to eat, gets enough sleep, stays clean and more. The pet simulation game allows users to pet or tap their pet to make them happy, or pick them up and fling them around like a ball (it doesn’t hurt). Users can brush their teeth, give them a bath, feed them treats and so on, or have them play with toys to keep them happy. Eventually, the pet will run out of energy, which can be refilled using coins or allowed to recharge automatically over time.
Users can play mini-games to earn coins in bulk. One, a rocket game, sees players surviving as long as they can in outer space, guiding a rocket around obstacles by tapping and holding on the screen to make the rocket move up the screen. Another is a match-three game.
The longer players raise their Om Nom, the more experience points they’ll earn, which results in higher levels and additional items being unlocked in the store. Gamers can eventually expand Om Nom’s home to have more room to play, or to place furniture for Om Nom to interact with.
“Cut the Rope and Cut the Rope 2 were obviously huge successes for us,” said Misha Lyalin, CEO of ZeptoLab, in a statement. “It would have been easy to relax this year, but that would have been a disservice to our fans. We are always talking and listening to our community, and the message has been clear: more Om Nom and more fun.”
My Om Nom is available to download on the iTunes App Store for $4.99. The game does not include ads or in-app purchases.
